Taylor Russell McKenzie was conceived in Vancouver, British Columbia on July 18th on the 18th of July 1994. She was also raised in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal. [1][2] Russell was born to an African-American father and a white mother, is biracial, and was raised mostly on her mother's side of the family. Her skin color made her feel unwelcome in her early years. They struggled financially. They were always moving and had to move 16 times in order to assist her father's career. Russell revealed that despite all the hardships, Russell said that she was always interested in creativity as a child. She hoped to be a dancer, and later to be an artist. At the age of 18, she started her first acting class. She saved the money from work to purchase a car and drove to Los Angeles to audition. She would go back to work when her money was exhausted and would then begin the audition process. The process went on for four years until she was offered her first big TV appearance.
